Well over 1000 people gathered at the Cross of Sacrifice in Victor Harbor on Sunday for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended WWI.
It was delightful weather conditions for the Remembrance Day ceremony which was followed by a lunch at the Grosvenor Hotel.
An earlier plan to follow it with a function at the new shared football/RSL clubrooms had to be abandoned as the building is still considered a worksite.
Sunday’s ceremony was the last to be conducted locally by Padre Brian Chalmers who has only missed one ANZAC Day/Remembrance Day ceremony in Victor Harbor in the past 12 years.
